Ira Goodrich

Mr. Ira C. Goodrich died suddenly of heart disease on Tues., Dec. 12. He was in his usual health and was around town as usual until nearly 12 o' clock, when he went home and ate his dinner, apparently as well as ever, then went to the barn to feed his horse when his wife, thinking he was gone longer than usual, went to the back door and saw him lying in the snow near the woodpile. She gave the alarm which attracted the neighbors. He was dead when found and no signs were manifest of any struggle with death.

Deceased was born at Dunkirk, Castarangus Co., NY on Dec. 12, 1822. He came to Illinois in 1836 and was married to Dolly Jane West at Clinton, Kane Co., April 3 1843. Besides his aged wife, he leaves 3 children, 2 daughters and one son. The funeral was held at the house, Fri.

Dec. 15, the services were conducted by Rev. F. M. Fish, and the remains were interred at in the cemetery near Haeger School House. The afflicted family have the sympathy of the entire community.
